However, in the Old Kingdom (and near the border into Ancelstierre) magic works quite well and all Ancelstierre's Technology fails horribly (and actually decays quickly on Old Kingdom land). Ancelstierre is like England, circa 1920, with trains, rifles and artillery, electric lights and automobiles & etc. The Map of both (kind of) looks like Great Britain (without Ireland), with Ancelstierre as England, the Old Kingdom as Scotland, and a huge Wall (where Hadrian's Wall is) separating them both. There are two countries: The Old Kingdom and Ancelstierre. The setting of these books are as follows: Has anyone read the Abhorsen Trilogy by Garth Nix: Sabriel, Lirael and Abhorsen?
